Please welcome our new Resource Specialist, Thalia Carreras!
She was born in Mexico City but moved to Long Beach when she was three years old. She earned her Associate’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Los Angeles Harbor College in spring of 2015, and then transferred to CSU Dominguez Hills, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology this past May.
Before working at SFC, Thalia had been working at a barber shop that she and her spouse had opened up. They built the shop from scratch, starting with just the two of them working and now have a total of six barbers.
Thalia is excited to work at SFC because she has always envisioned herself being part of an organization that works with disadvantaged communities.
“I had volunteered at various places and donated to many causes and I no longer wanted to be a spectator but rather an active participant in the fight to end homelessness and aid low-income families.”
She is looking forward to using her extensive research background to not only find resources for guests, but also aid in the growth and development of the organization.
In her spare time, Thalia enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Help us welcome Thalia to the SFC team!
